FellowshipsIn the book Our Others. Stories of Ukrainian Diversity, Olesya Yaremchuk explored the histories and personal stories of fourteen ethnic minority groups living within the boundaries of present-day Ukraine. Russia´s full-scale war is changing the ethnic landscape of Ukraine. On the one hand, representatives of various nationalities have joined the armed forces of Ukraine. On the other hand, many members of national communities were forced to leave their homes. For instance, the Meskhetian Turks who lived near Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast, the Greeks of Mariupol, or the Roma of Nova Kakhovka in Kherson Oblast. Yaremchuk continues to collect the stories of Ukrainian diversity and record testimonies of deported Ukrainian citizens to Russia. In her research on national communities, Yaremchuk focuses on the topic of Ukrainian identity.
