Recent studies have shown that sites of historical memory are like a database that continuously renews and refreshes itself. My research is centered on the key sites of memory in Croatia that enable the construction of a Croatian political community. It is an attempt to reconstruct the process of forming an important determinant of Croatian political and national identity, a kind of ‘founding myth’.
