Zakończyć chciałbym tylko tym stwierdzeniem, że historyk jest na ogół skłonny do pesymizmu i do stwierdzania, że dokonywać się może tylko to, co możliwe. A jak Państwo wiedzą bardzo niewiele dobrych rzeczy jest możliwe. Natomiast ruch Solidarność istniał zasadą nadziei, że czasem niemożliwe się też spełnia. I tu chcę powiedzieć, że ja zachowuję nadzieję, że Polska utrzyma tę swoją szczególną sytuację, której Solidarność i jej przywódca Wałęsa będą gwarantowały stabilność zmian. Dziękuję bardzo.
I would just like to conclude by saying that historians are generally inclined to pessimism and to asserting that only what is possible can happen. And as you know, very few good things are possible. But the Solidarity movement existed on the hope that sometimes the impossible can also come true. And here I would like to say that I maintain hope that Poland will maintain this special situation, in which Solidarity and its leader Wałęsa will guarantee the stability of these changes.
